Celebrating Love {Guest Post by Jemimah C.}

Thanks so much for guest posting Jemimah, it is an honor to have you as my first guest poster!

It's always surprising to see how fast time flies by. We just began a brand new year; we simply started a new month...and now it has gone away, only to be retrieved from the deep corners of memory. Time continues to move forward. The clock ticks on and on. It's hands continuously circle around in spiral motions. The sand from the hourglass keeps falling down. And life goes on as it always has and forever will.

Here we are in the midst of another month. The colorful, wonderful, lovely month of February. For some people, February means Valentine's Day to them. It means a time to love and a time to demonstrate their love to the people they care about. Personally, I have never really celebrated Valentine's Day. Yes, there were instances in my childhood in which I remember making a few vibrant, cute, but rather sticky Valentine's Day cards and being "dragged" into joining some Valentine's Day events.

As I grew older, I realized that celebrating the initiated annual Valentine's Day was not highly imperative. It was simply an event ordained by human minds. But love is something we need to and should celebrate every single day of our lives. What is this love, anyway?

When the new year twenty-twelve started, like many other people, I chose a "word for the year." That word was love. I have a yearning desire to discover the deepest essence of love—the genuine truth and reality beneath that seemingly simple yet intricately complex word. Because love is a lot more than what the world has twisted it to be. Infatuation has somehow morphed into what many people call "love." The word love has been flippantly thrown around in various sentences. We've allowed that great word to describe even our smallest fancies. And while that is not totally wrong, it's not technically right either.

Love is not just a mere word. It's more powerful than that. Love is also an action, and it's probably the greatest action that has ever occurred throughout history.

But when and where did love begin? I'm not so sure if it ever had a beginning; and if there's one thing I am certain of, love will never end. There is no need for a happily ever after ending, because love is everlasting. Because God is everlasting.

"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.'" Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

God is love. Love is His aspect—one of His awesome, magnificent attributes. He was the One who first loved us, even before we even learned to reciprocate His love. The real origin of love is found in the Bible, in the Word of God. And that verse above is so amazing. God and His love are so awesome! Isn't is wonderful to know that there is Someone who loves us no matter what? Knowing that beautiful truth should give us hope. Blessed hope.

"Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.' The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him." Lamentations 3:21-25 (NIV)

God's love gives us hope that keeps us going on through life. Everyday when we wake up, every new morning, God's love for us is renewed. In His love, we find strength to move onward. God is more than enough for us; His love is superfluous.

I know some of you are a little worried about the future. That's quite natural. We all have certain fears quaking in our hearts. A lot of girls out there are probably wondering if they will ever find "Prince Charming," the man of their life. Well, here's what I have to say...the point of this post, since I wanted to write something that would be timely for this season.

God has a different plan for each of us. He is the grand Author who writes our life stories and our love stories. Not every girl will be called to a life of marriage and matrimonial love, but the Lord knows what is best for us because He loves us. All we have to do is trust in Him and have faith in His perfect ways. All we have to do is hope in Him and wait on and for Him. And most of all, in every day of our lives, in every season, in every moment, we must learn to love the One who loved us first, and learn to love as He does. Believe me, Love is one journey, one big celebration you wouldn't want to miss.
